Reglus Walton Raley born in Horsecave KY married Nancy Jane Parrish on Oct 6 1878. Reglus was a Methodist but, he and his wife Nancy joined the Sugarloaf (Carrollton Hollow) Baptist Church in May of 1882. They were baptized one month later and Reglus was ordained to the Gospel in May of 1887. He continued to preach the Gospel and Pastor area churches until 1932 and passed away in 1934. He was a responsible in the formation of the following churches in the Sugarloaf area: Peel Baptist Church, Big Springs Baptist Church both in Marion County, Hopewell Church, Lead Mine Church, and Bethel Church in Boone County. Rev. & Mrs. Raley were the parents of Mary, Lon, Harriet, (wife of Barry Smith), Nancy, (wife of Sam Journagan), Robert, Bertha, (wife of WT Hall), Donnie Alice, (wife of Troy Seals) Lester, Hiram, Lucy (wife of Lloyd Pumphrey, Lona (wife of Jarrett Manley), Parrish, Porter (founder of the largest Supermarket chain in California), and Earnest. The Raley Roots reach into many generations of families still living in the Sugarloaf Area is documented by our beloved Boone County Historian and descendent former State Representative, Judge Roger Logan.
