Samuel T & Mary L Richardson
Samuel T Richey was born in 1830 in Kentucky. He married Mary L Richardson on January 26, 1854, in Gasconade, Missouri. They had four children during their marriage. He died as a young father of 32 on May 13, 1862. He was listed on a Union Army casualty list in St.Louis, Missouri, and buried in Plymouth Cemetery in Illinois outside St. Louis. Samuel's wife Mary L Richardson was born in 1829 in Gasconade, Missouri. Upon the death of her husband she remained in Rocky Fork, Boone County, Missouri and died there in 1880 at the age of 51. Although Samuel or Mary never lived in Lead Hill their four children moved there, married, and raised their families. The exact time is unknown but their mothers brother James Wiley Richardson 24 at the time is listed as living in Lead Hill on the 1870 census. Ages of the Richey children at that time would have been Nancy 17, John 16, George 15, and Lon 9. James Robert Richardson, Wiley's son born after his arrival to the LH area is one of the pioneer families listed on our website. Through the years the Richey family, the Richardson family and the Green family have flourished in the Sugarloaf community and are represented by many individuals and linked families. While many due to marriage may not carry the Richey name they remain a significant impact in the community.
